Today I’m looking for a little help from all the Italian and Expat bloggers living in Italy. As you may have experienced,it’s hard to find good, current Italian music in the US. So you can imagine how happy I was to join the iTunes revolution and get my fix of Italian music. Of course it’s harder than it sounds, here’s why:
- the little snippet they let you listen to for free doesn’t always do the song justice.
- I can access iTunes Italy but I can’t purchase songs from iTunes Italy…. I can find some of the same songs on iTunes US but much of the new Italian music isn’t available. I really wanted to download Fango by Jovanotti the other day but couldn’t
Here are just a few of my Italian favorites (there are so many!):Jovanotti,Vasco Rossi,Biagio Antonacci,Raf,Luna Pop,Eros
A few songs I’m listening to these days:
Jovanotti –Mi Fido Di Te
Piccola Stella Senza Cielo –Ligabue
Se e’Vero Che Ci Sei –Biagio Antonacci (older but one of my favorites)
So leave me a comment and let me know what you’re listening to these days:What’s new, what’s good, what’s hot? Would love to hear from you. Have a great Tuesday!

Joe,it might not be very cool, but Tiziano Ferro is a kind of Italian Robbie Williams (if that helps!) and had at least two big hits in Italy last year, the best of which being ‘Ti Scattero una foto’which I thoroughly recommend for the treadmill!
Tim Parks is a real version of what it’s like to live in Italy,an antidote to the ‘Tuscan Dream’books everywhere.
If you have an Italian credit card you can access itunes Italy. I have my American account and an Italian account, each tied to a credit card located in their respective countries. Don’t know if it is possible for you,but I love having both!
I am really liking Ligabue,Zero Assoluto and Elisa right now.
The one problem I find with iTunes (USA) is that when I do find an Italian artist…the spanish version of their song is offered rather than the Italian version. Zucchero is an example,Baila Morena used to be offered in the Spanish version only. Anyone else have that problem?? I love Tiziano Ferro,Nek,and Luna Pop.
I had to stop in and say ciao! Bologna happens to be a city I love and visit often (I only live 40 mins by car)!
As for the Italian music….
I LOVE Tiromancino and Zero Assoluto. You can’t go wrong with Zucchero or Elisa either. Laura Pausini is another good one,who just happens to be from my little corner of Romagna!
Ciao for now!
Cyn
ps. Just love your cute Italian dog!
Amanda,I found “ti scattero una foto”but it was in Spanish.
Jessica,no Italian CC…. that’s all I need,another CC:) I like Ligabue too.
Steph&Tim:I know! it seems there is more Spanish music by Italian artist than Italian. Sort of a bummer. Thanks! Joe
Thanks Cynthia! I enjoy your blog as well. Joe
Vinicio Capossela!!
Paolo Conte is always fun too…
Le Vibrazioni are ok as well…
Giorgia is awesome and passionate…
Big and beardy,Jovanotti ‘Fango’. It’s fantastic and on my running track as from today.
Keep looking for ‘Ti Scattero’the Italian version is ‘sing it out loud at the top of your voice’wonderful in that slightly naff, theatrical style that only a gorgeous Italian male can carry off.
Tina –thanks for the recommendations. I like Georgia and have lots of her stuff.
Amanda,I’ll have to keep looking for Fango…. however,Carla from MA was nice enough to email me “Ti Scattero una foto”in Italian! Thanks Carla!
