Italian Shoes

If you read my post on Super Tuesday below,it was raining cats and dogs…. well it hasn’t stopped since. We had a mighty thunder/lighting storm last night and buckets of rain. Correction,it has stopped raining…. it’s now snowing. I’m ok with the snow. I live in New England and if you live in this part of the US,you sort of sign up for long cold winters. That’s why it’s important to have a fireplace, plenty of wood and a good stock of vino:)

I’ll get a reprieve from the wintery weather as I’m leaving for the desert on Sunday…. that’s right,LAS VEGAS! where the streets are paved with gold (or something like that.) Don’t be jealous just yet…. yes,Las Vegas can be fun if you go for a few days and have nothing to do but gamble, see the sights and eat but I go to Las Vegas for work every February and every July/August for the Project Show and the World Shoe Show. I will be in Vegas for 15 days…. which is sort of a prison sentence.

The World Shoe Show!! For all you lover of shoes…. this is “THE SHOW”not only do they have all your favorite brands, they have shoes that won’t be coming out until this fall 08 and Spring 09…. so stuff that hasn’t been seen yet. To top it off,the trade show booths get more and more interesting each year. Last show at the end of July/August,I took a walk around the show as I usually do and bumped into an old favorite that I had almost forgotten about. SUPERGA. There is no shoe more Italian and that has lasted over the years as SUPERGA. What should you expect from an Italian company at the World Shoe Show? Creativity of course! and SUPERGA didn’t disappoint. They got my vote for most creative booth. Check out the picture of the SUPERGA booth below. Each shoe is tied onto a miniature Fiat 500 with it’s laces. Pretty cool. I guess they’re making a push here in the US and I am all for it!
So speaking of Italian shoes, what’s your favorite Italian shoe brand??

You lucky thing, sounds great!! Believe it or not I actually went all out today and bought myself a new pair of D &G’s,my sister’s wedding is coming up so that’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it:)

Oh,I have a pair of Sesto Meucci’s that I love. I try to wear them only in places that I love,no rain, dirt,or outside pavement to prolong their life. I bought some light pink and orange mules in Sorrento that I love to wear and Naples too,is shoe shopping mecca’s. Someday,I hope they invent a transporter like in the Star Trek series,so I can go shoe shopping there for the day. I did a post on October 2007 called “Italian Footwear Fetish”,if that gives you idea of my own obsession.

I cant believe that someone like me who loves shoes so much has no idea about this show…and in Las Vegas,no less…just a few hours from my home in Phoenix…well, when I get back from Venice, you can bet I will be checking out the possiblities next year!

I love love love shoes! I really like Geox. do they have a booth at the show? Post some pics when you come back please! Nice blog!

It’s funny to think of a brand of shoes called Superga,as that is what the church atop the hill behind Torino center is called. It’s quite a landmark. And yes,American needs home delivery on the large gulp vino!

Don’t have a favorite Italian shoe. Overall,I’m a big Puma fan. Just so comfortable…

Enjoy vegas. Even though you’re going for work come on now,I’m sure you can steal a day or two (at least a few hours) in the casinos.

I will post some pics after the Shoe Show…. that’s next week though and yes Chris,I’m sure there will be a few hours of gambling…. then again,it depends how I do in the first hour.
    Piccola…Geox will be there.

Love that booth! Creative indeed. But…as for my faaaavorite italian brand?{…….} Guess I’ll have to bow out from that question;I don’t lead a lifestyle that warrants Prada. Rubber slippers and hiking boots make up the rest of my footrobe!

I’m not picky! I love them all!! Can’t wait for those pics!

I love all shoes…but one of my favorite brands is Sergio Rossi! The are sooooo creative with their shoes. I only wish they weren’t so darn expensive.

Hey Joe –random! I was just at MICAM,here in Milan! (Italy’s WSA Show…) What were you doing there? Were you an exhibitor?

  • joe@italyville.com

it seems that most of the Italian brands (higher end ones anyway) were in the “collections”area…private suites at the Venetian,so I couldn’t snap any photos!

Sara –I go for a client of mine …twice a year;( I’ve never been to MICAM but we’re headed to Bread &Butter in a few months and Pitti in Firenze(although I never get to go to that. figures right?)
