Joe, I’m with you and Ben Harper, I’d never really listened to any Jovanotti before ‘Fango’ but now I’m hooked, well, on that one track but I’m willing to go further. Also I’d never been big fan of beards before but as far a beards go his is pretty cool and I love, love, love the ‘Fango’ video, just Jonvanotti, his beard and a waterfall. What more could a girl want.

Well, I do think Lisa has a point -the performance wasn't one of the best.

However, let's look at the poetry of the song: it's a pure, pure love song written for his daughter. And (for me) very moving.

I was thinking about this after leaving my first message about 'Brit pop' and still think we do it well. But, then I realised that most of the music I actually buy and listen to is by American musicians!

Not in any particular order: Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Bruce (no surname needed). Jo Cocker - hang on - is he a Brit too?

There is one Italian singer/songwriter that I really love: Fabrizio De Andre.

Lisa, Lisa! How can say it? He actually has a song with Ben Harper that’s really good. I’m a big Ben Harper fan.

Actually it gave me ‘frisson’. Yes, he was a little out of tune at times and there were a few moments of ‘air guitar’ and even ‘air piano’, but otherwise it was rather moving.

Looks like Italian music is picking up. I know about the classics, of course, and all those magnificent operas, but I used to think: you do the cooking and let us Brits do the pop music!!
