Vespa Special

I took this photo at the Brimfield Antique Fair…. there’s something about a Vespa isn’t there? Vespa is an Italian “Super Brand” I’ll be posting more on Italian brands and Italian branding soon since brand marketing is what I do for a living. This Vespa reminded me of a Luna Pop song “50 Special.” the video is a little corny but there’s no denying that the song is catchy! I included the lyrics as well. Enjoy e buona giornata!

Vespe truccate,
anni ’60,
girano in centro sfiorando i 90,
…fuori citta

I have wanted a Vespa for so long! That one is a beauty :)

I love that song and Vespas, too! I’m just too chicken to drive one.

Hey Joe, Love the vespa. The gas prices in Mass are killing me. Made the pane, Nonni and others thought it was too salty, I used Kosher. Will try it again with less salt. What is the dough like before you knead, mine was a bit dry, should it be a moist batter. Would appriecate your input. My other half is a critical Abruzzo whose parents hail from Chieti Scalo.
    Grazie

I used to own a white Vespa when I lived in London. Now, do you know what my dream is? An Ape. Yes, those strange tin huts on wheels that annoy everyone else on the roads because they go so slowly – usually driven by old men wearing hats. I’d like to paint it a bright colour, pop the dogs in the back and chundle off to do the spesa – bliss!

My FIL has an old Vespa in the cantina…been dying to see if we can’t fix it up :)

Joe, I saw that vespa. There was another guy with 3 of them near the food booths, but I was so beat at that point, I didn’t even stop to check ‘em out!! I’d love one…especially with these gas prices ;)

My husband bought me my Vespa 150 for my 1 year wedding anniversary! I LOVE IT and its so much fun and the best thing to have in the city. You see them eveyrwhere around here these days, due to the gas prices and all. I can’t wait until mine is done being serviced so I can break it out for the season.

Vespas are nice, but THANK YOU for including some music! Love that song; reminds me of my trip to Italia l’anno scorsa. I hope you put more links to current Italian music on your blog!

Hi Maryann, me too! I saw a vintage Vespa shop in London with 20-30 old vespas for sale. I had to do all I could to hold back:)

Homebody – it is a little scary here in the States as people aren’t used to seeing them much.

Ciao Cinzia! thanks for stopping by and trying the bread. It’s so hard to get a grip on exact quantities with some of these old family recipes, so it does have a trial and error factor. It should be moist but add some flour or water depending on if it’s too dry or too moist. Hope that helps.

Sally, I love Ape!! I have been meaning to post on them. What a great vehicle. I read a post about a wine company in Maine that has one and they deliver their wine in it! great idea. Good luck getting yours.

Michelle, you have to! Fixing up the vintage ones is where it’s at.

Robin, I have to stop going the last day. Everyone was packing up and we didn’t get too far down the road. There’s so much going on.

So jealous Maria. Can I take it for a spin:)

I’ll do my best Rose! thanks

Nice vespa that is, got a collection my self. Ive got quite a few since I have been working on them and am now a Vespa Mechanic. I do believe that scooter you have is to be a 1963-68 Vespa Sprint 125-150. One of the large frame models.
Apes are fun to drive, a guy in toronto canada let me test one out.
Scooters are not so popular where I am, so people look in my garage all the time!
I could use some of that fine italian cooking!
    Ciao bella!
    Alex
