Have you ever seen one of these? I remember them from when I was a little boy. My grandmother had one and we would warm our feet on it in the winter. I took the other photo on my recent trip. There’s something romantic about it isn’t there? We would sit around it and talk, maybe eat some castagne and keep our feet toasty. So… what’s it called? I’ll give you hint, in Italian it starts with a B or in dialect it could start with an F or V… haha! You have to love dialect.

Is it called a braciere?
Brasé in piemontese!!!
I’ve never seen one and don’t know what it’s called, but I want one!
Braciera. We have one too! Decoration only.
I have no idea what it’s called, but it’s very cool! I’ll have to ask Ale if there is a Pugliese word for one of those. Joe, I have to say, I chuckled a little when I first saw the pic of you without having read the post. I thought it was a pic of you with the, “I need to go potty” face…haha! Sorry, it reminded me of a family story I have. Hmm, that might make a good post!
I’ve only seen these in pictures. Never used one. That is one sad kid in that photo though! LOL
Is is you? LOL
it is a Braciere food Hunter… or as Daziano mentions: Brase’ in Piemontese.
Sally… I want one too damn it!
Scintilla has one that she doesn’t use maybe we can bid for it Sally!
Piccola… I agree, I do look like I need to go potty!
Yes Maryann… that’s me! It was damn cold, of course I was sad:)
We call it a Vrascera or Frascera.
I find interesting the change from B to V and then to F… does it happen with other words in your dialect?
