101 Posts –Giving

This is Italyville’s 101st post…but it comes at a difficult time for many Italians.  Reports have the death toll from the earthquake in L’Aquila at over 250 people, thousands more are injured and tens of thousands remain homeless.  This is all happening as Easter approaches this weekend and Italians around the world will come together to celebrate with their families and friends.

Family and friends have always been the strength of the Italian people…. and we are always there to give a helping hand.  So in celebration of Italyville’s 101st post,in celebration of Easter and continuing in the spirit of giving (I got this great mug as a gift from my friend Maryann at Finding La Dolce Vita…. thanks Maryann!) Italyville is donating $101 to the National Italian American Foundation (NAIF)/Abruzzo Relief Fund.  I know it comes at a difficult economic time but I ask you to do what you can to help.  If you can help financially,I challenge you to match this donation (or whatever you can give) and if you can’t I ask you to keep our fellow Italians in your thoughts and prayers.  If you have a blog…please help spread the word.

Wishing you and your family a very happy, healthy and safe Easter. Auguri –Joe

  • Thanks Joe. That is very generous of you. I put a link on my blog to some places where people can contribute. My Italian lady chitchat group –“Le Matte”are meeting soon to decide how and where to contribute –whether through an organization or directly to someone we know in Abruzzo who will distribute food and/or clothing or money without the middle man. This is a real tragedy and these people need our help.

  • PS I really like your mug. That Maryann is sooo sweet.

  • Yes Joe,I am deeply affected over this tragic earthquake in Italy. I have donated all ready and will continue sending more money on a weekly basis to the people of need. Thank You so much for your post!
