Contact me. | StromboliOn a clear day as the sun sets into the Tyrrhenian Sea on the west coast of Calabria…. you get a truly beautiful sunset and a great look at the volcano –Stromboli. Stromboli is still very active and had it’s last major eruption August 2,2008 (according to wikipedia) but is said to be in a constant state of eruption. That doesn’t stop people from living on the island or visiting Stromboli (Stromboli is one of the most visited volcanoes on the planet…as apposed to the ones on Mars??) These photos were taken from the balcony of my Uncle’s house during my last trip in March.

Where does your uncle live Joe? Stromboli (and the rest of the Aeolian islands) is one of those places I must get to.
I remember visiting Pompeii –Stromboli looks so beautiful.
What a view!
Gorgeous!Someday…..
Beautiful shot. Makes you wish you were there. Love the colors. Your uncle is a lucky man to have such a view.
WOW!! Amazing photos and amazing views.
Oh,I have to go there someday and Vesuvius. I just saw Vesuvius in the distance on our daily ferry trip back to Naples but didn’t go there. I think I didn’t want to deal with volcanic ash ruining my walking shoes. I have been to Sakurajima in Japan which is also an active volcano. It erupts every few minutes spitting out a little ash and causing the ground below your feet to rumble and groan. I can’t immagine what a full on eruption must be like.
Gorgeous!
What a view!
The colors of the sunset remind me of a California sunset as well. Gorgeous photo. I would love to be there.
You’re a lucky man,Joe,to have family with a view like that! Gorgeous;thanks for sharing.
OK,I seriously laughed at the line about 3 pounds of pasta for 6 people. It was exactly the same way in my house! One time when I was a kid I had dinner at my friend’s house, and her mom made 1 pound of pasta for 6 of us. My mom was shocked when she heard it. You’d think it was a form of child abuse. Great recipe too,Joe!
Whoops. This was supposed to be for the other post. Course you probably figured that out.
Beautiful!!
