how do clean the mushroom chicken of the woods? I live in Ill. I not pick your mushrooms.

The memories this blog brings back, hunting mushrooms in the woods of PA with my family. My dad was the resident micologist and expert hunter and cook. I’ll never forget bringing back garbage bags fulls of orange mushrooms that looked amazing. How proud my dad would be I thought, just to find him smiling because they were jack-o-lantern which are not edible. This is how you learn, and when we do, the reward is so amazing and delicious. Thanks for the memories Joe.

I wish I had the guts to forage for mushrooms. I know I would poison my family or send them on a psychedlic experience. I’ve never seen these and the dish makes my mouth crave it.
