Hi,my name is Joe Maruca and I’m a first generation Italian-American living in Massachusetts. My parents came from Calabria in 1970 as newlyweds and I had the good fortune of growing up immersed in Italian culture. I have been traveling to Italy my entire life and spent several years living and working in Bologna,which is still one of my favorite cities. I love my Italian heritage,family craziness,wonderful food and chats with my grandfather,who still wakes up early to hunt down wild mushrooms and asparagus in Calabria.
My goal is to help preserve our rich,amazing and beautiful culture and I want to share my experiences with Italians across the globe. As we get older and our families grow,it’s easy to lose touch with our roots. I hope italyville.com can help keep those roots intact and make them stronger.
