Back from Calabria and I wanted to send everyone l’auguri per una Buona Pasqua! (Best wishes for a very Happy Easter.) Here are a few traditional Calabrian foods we will be eating tomorrow at our house. And here’s a recipe for Fraguni, which are my favorite! What will be on your menu tomorrow? I brought back [...] 1 – Fraguni… my all time favorite Easter treats!
2 – Ricotta Pie…. rich and delicious!
3 – Pizza Rustica, Pizza Chena, Pitta Chena, whatever you call it in your house… It’s called YUMMY everywhere.
4 – Pastiera – it’s nice to have a Pasticciere in the family.
One last look at the Easter goodies until next year. I asked mom why we only made some of these delicious treats during Easter…. and she explained that they couldn’t afford to do it all the time when she was growing up in Calabria and they also took advantage of certain ingredients such as pork [...] |
